Resilience of coastal socio-ecosystems

Overarching theme

I am a geospatial ecologist interested in interactions between coastal socio-ecosystems and their environment.

Specifically I focus on the spatial patterns and socio-ecological processes of the seamless coastal fringe (tropical, temperate and polar) at very fine resolution (≈1 m) yet over regional extents (≈100 km). The motivation is clear: the future of increasing worldwide coastal populations depends, to a large degree, on ecological services provided by ecosystems to help adapt to and mitigate impacts of global change.

I use a combination of tools from benthic ecology, wetland ecology/pedology, geomorphology, oceano-climatology, environmental socio-economy, remote sensing, as well as applied mathematics, statistics and computer science.
